What To Expect For Your First Visit

So you've made your appointment, shared your insurance information with us, and filled out your new patient forms. Now, what? What can you expect in our Sunnyvale office for your first dental visit?

You will be seen on time.

Timeliness is important to us. All patients are seen in a timely manner in our Sunnyvale dental office. As you've filled out your forms online, all you need to do is bring a photo ID and show up on time for your appointment.

We use technology to assist with diagnosis.

We will first need to gather some information about you and your teeth before we begin the examination. In our office, we will take two different types of radiographs. The first one goes around your head and gives us an overall idea of your jaws and bones. The second type of radiographs allows us to check your bone levels and helps us determine whether you have cavities between your teeth.

If it's been a while since your last dental visit or you can't remember where your last set of x-rays was taken, there's no need to worry about transferring them to us. Radiographs are taken on all new patients in our Sunnyvale office.

We take pictures of your teeth.

If you've ever wondered how your teeth look (especially all the way in the back, where we can't see), you'll get a chance to look at them in our office! We use intraoral cameras to take photos of your teeth, your bite, and your smile. These photos will be reviewed with you during your appointment. 

You get to watch TV.

As mentioned in my last blog post, we have TVs positioned directly above patient chairs so our patients can enjoy their favorite Netflix or Hulu show in our Sunnyvale office.

We will examine your teeth and make our recommendations.​

As your dental care is a collaborative effort between you and our dental team in Sunnyvale, we will examine your teeth and review our recommendations with you. These recommendations will take into consideration your oral hygiene habits, your diet, and your short-term and long-term dental goals.

You will receive a customized treatment plan.

After our recommendations are discussed and a cleaning (provided you do not have periodontitis) is completed, our team will create a custom treatment plan and review it with you. Our recommendations will be prioritized based on your dental needs and will also include information on your insurance company's estimated coverage.
